Do you think this statement is relevant? “The majority of people in the West are educated beyond their obedience.”
James 1:22 exhorts us: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
How many thousands of sermons have we heard?
How many books have we read?
Podcasts listened to?
Conferences attended?
We have access to some of the best biblical teaching in the world – yet has all this knowledge resulted in true obedience?
Jesus’ final command in the Great Commission was not just to “teach all that I have commanded” but to “teach them to obey.”
Yet, in much of modern Christianity, knowledge has become the goal rather than obedience-based discipleship that transforms lives.
Moving Forward Together
One common misconception about discipleship is that we need to know all the answers before we start making disciples. But discipleship is not just for pastors, leaders or bible college graduates. It’s for each and every follower of Jesus.
We don’t need another sermon, book or conference to gain more information about making disciples. We must simply GO…and make disciples. And the same God who calls us into this mission, will also equip us with this mission.
The opportunity is before us. Let’s embrace it together, with faith and intentionality.
